Biography: Scott was the first British pilot to fly solo around the world, and broke more than 100 light-aircraft records between 1965 and 1972.

Beginning her career as a nurse during WWII, Scott also worked as a model and an actress until 1960, when she earned her pilot’s license and bought an old biplane from the Royal Air Force.

Scott first flew around the world in 1966, completing the trip in 189 flying hours. She was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1968.
