American Idol season 18 star, Lauren Spencer-Smith has officially skyrocketed to fame, nearly two years after her time on the competition. She reportedly has sparked a bidding war among record labels after joining Shawn Mendes’s management team.

Lauren Spencer-Smith has recently launched into the music industry with her release of “Fingers Crossed” earlier this year. Soon after the song’s release, the single hit No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. This opened up doors for the singer, including meetings with major record deals.

Eventually, she signed with both Republic and Island Records. At the time of the signing, Spencer-Smith noted that being signed was a weight off her shoulders. It was revealed in early spring 2022 that Spencer-Smith had split from her former manager and signed with Shawn Mendes‘s management team. Reportedly, she’s become friends with the popular singer.

Due to Spencer-Smith’s popularity on TikTok and full team working behind her, her career is totally taking off. Her April single, “Flowers” debuted as No. 1 on the iTunes Charts, while her recent single “Narcissist” landed her a performance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

On August 11, Spencer-Smith is set to launch her first North American headlining tour. The tour features eight concerts in California, Illinois, Texas, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, and New York, with other dates in Canada. She is already confirmed as a performer at iHeartRadio’s September Music Festival.

Her Journey on American Idol

16 year old Spencer-Smith first took the stage in 2020, singing “What About Us” by P!nk and “Always Remember Us that Way” by Lady Gaga. Even though many may not remember her simply from photos, they remember the amazing notes judges gave to the singer.

Though her time on the singing competition came to an end rather quick, she was able to make her mark while performing from home. Spencer-Smith made it into the Top 20 before facing elimination. Since departing from the series, the singer acknowledged that her elimination was a “blessing in disguise,” as she used the rest of the lockdown to find her voice as an artist.

Following American Idol, the singer began posting her intimate songs on TikTok. The songs have quickly become viral on the platform, which lead to her launch into the music industry. In present day, this singer has 3.6 million followers on the video sharing app.
